We follow the activities of the ADA and the CDC so that we are up-to-date on any new rulings or guidance that may be issued. We do this to make sure that our infection control procedures are current and adhere to or exceed each agencies’ recommendations.

An extraction means to have a tooth removed, usually because of disease, trauma or crowding.

If you need an extraction, Dr. Laij will first numb the area to lessen any discomfort. After the extraction, we will advise you of what post extraction regimen to follow and give you a pamphlet of post op instructions . In most cases a small amount of bleeding is normal. Your mouth will slowly fill in the bone where the tooth root was through the formation of a blood clot. Dr. Laij will do a majority of wisdom teeth extractions depending on the case. Some cases are more difficult than others and require IV sedation. In this case Dr. Laij will refer you to an oral surgeon in your area for the extraction.

We do not offer IV sedation, (“putting you to sleep”), but we do offer nitrous oxide (laughing gas) to help relax you during the procedure. For more information on nitrous oxide look under the patient info tab – sedation.
